Storm Damage Updates

Met-Ed is continuing its response to yesterday’s significant storm event, working diligently to restore power to devastated areas. Accessing the region has been difficult, as there have been countless trees and poles down, along with road closures throughout the area. Met-Ed currently has approximately 45 line crews dispatched to the region along with forestry crews. Additional teams from our other operating companies are heading to York County to assist in restoration efforts. At this time, an estimated time of restoration has not been established.

Individual damage reporting is available for residents to report their impacts to private property. It can be found on the main York County webpage: Click on ‘Report Your Damage.’

Borough Public Works will begin to provide limb collection services later this week. While no collection schedule has been established, residents may place branches and limbs curbside under the guidelines listed below. Collection will occur until August 23.

1) Limbs no more than 6 feet in length and no shorter than 3 feet; with a maximum diameter of 6 inches.

2) There must be easy access to the limbs at the curb. Borough employees will not go onto private property nor driveways.

3) Limbs tied in bundles will not be taken.

4) Only limbs will be removed. All other material will not be removed.
