The YoCo Voter Guide is part of a non-partisan voter education effort to ensure that voting-aged populations in York County are registered to vote and have the information that they need to know regarding the mechanics of casting a ballot. The YoCo Voter Guide does not make any recommendations regarding which candidate the voter selects but does provide high-level information on some of the more prominent primaries on the ballot this year.
Municipal elections are pronounced for the number of offices on the ballot and this year there will be a total of 919 open positions up for election. Including the retention questions which will be on the ballot in November, voters will have the opportunity to reshape the Pennsylvania judiciary at all levels from the PA Supreme Court to the local Magisterial District Judge (in applicable MDJ districts). Countywide elections will be held for District Attorney, Coroner, Controller, and Recorder of Deeds. Voters will additionally, depending upon where they live, will elect members of their school boards and the members of their municipalities governing body; be it in the City of York, a Township, or a Borough. The 2025 Municipal Primary will also include elections for the officials who administer elections at the precinct level – the Judge of Elections and a Majority & Minority Inspector of Elections.
Voters are reminded that Pennsylvania operates under a partisan primary system and that only those registered as Republicans and Democrats may vote in each respective party’s primary elections. The 2025 Municipal Primary YoCo Voter Guide is available in English & Spanish at https://www.yceapa.org/advocacy/yocovoterguide/ Up-to-date information regarding the election can be found at yorkcountypa.gov/503/Elections-Voter-Registration and at vote.pa.gov.
